City of Jackson Recreation & Parks Department welcomes the participation of individuals with disabilities and fully complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act by making accommodations to encourage participation in programs, events and activities. Contact the supervisor at your program or service site two weeks prior to the start of the activity to make arrangements.

Resident/Non-Resident Fees: Much of the cost for providing the activities and programs in the Recreation & Parks Department comes from taxes paid by City of Jackson residents. Nearly half of our program participants, however, live outside the city and do not pay city taxes. To share the burden of program expense, non-city residents’ fees are more than those charged to city residents. Non-residents also can buy an annual resident member card for $30 or $99 for a family of four, with $9 per extra card. Non-residents may then participate in as many programs as they like for a year at the same rate city residents pay. Each family member must have his or her own card.

Cancellation: Classes need a minimum number of participants and may be cancelled due to insufficient registration.

Refunds: Refunds will be given up to three working days before the start of class. All refunds initiated by the participant will have a $2 service charge. If a class does not get enough participants and is cancelled, a full refund will be given.

Participation: those enrolled in a class who are unable to participate due to extreme circumstances will be allowed to enroll in a later class at no charge.

Injuries: City of Jackson Recreation and Parks Department is not responsible for injuries incurred while participating in any of its activities.

Class Size: Classes and programs will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Names will be placed on a waiting list when classes reach capacity.

Facility Availability: Class dates and times are contingent on availability of facility and are subject to change. Every effort will be made to notify those affected.

Weather: In case of inclement weather, please listen to local radio and television stations for cancellations. Every effort will be made to notify the participant.

Children: Enrollment age for each class is included with the class description.

Children are not allowed to accompany parents to an adult class.

Make-up Classes: classes postponed or not held by the instructor, due to emergencies, holiday or special activities, will be made up by the Instructor. Classes missed by the participant will not be made up.
