
The Recreation & Parks Department works closely with other organizations to understand and provide leisure, recreation and athletic opportunities for all citizens. Many programs and classes are adaptable for mature residents opportunities for participation in activities. Some programs and activities specifically for seniors promote fitness and overall well-being.
These include aquatics, table tennis and access to the Senior Games-a type of senior olympics. For a year round, low impact workout, aquatic fitness is very popular. Staff also work with the Seniors/Senior Olympics program to help promote physical well-being, and healthy active lifestyles for adults aged 50 plus. These adults compete with vigor in eighteen different sporting events each year during Senior Games trials and finals.
